An Enterostomal Therapy Nurse (ET) is a registered nurse who specializes in the care and teaching of people with an ostomy. While you were recovering from surgery in hospital, you most likely met with one of these nurses who taught you how to care for your ostomy. The ET nurse is also available to help you should problems arise once you return home.
Routine outpatient clinic check-ups with your Enterostomal Therapy nurse are recommended after hospital discharge, at 2 weeks, 6 months, and then at one year.
